How To Get Your USA Coaches Membership

HOW TO GET YOUR USA COACHES MEMBERSHIP

Our policy at Wolves Wrestling Club is that any volunteer coach or parent that wishes to be on the mat must become a member coach of USA Wrestling. You can do this by purchasing a "Wrestling Leader Membership". This membership is for anyone wanting to be a USA Wrestling member coach, or official (see more below). You must hold a current membership before being allowed on the mat. Obtaining a membership can be done through USA Wrestling at https://www.usawmembership.com/login. Obtaining this membership will require a background check and completion of a "safe sport" certification, which can all be done through the USAW website. Memberships are valid for one year (beginning on 9/1 and ending on 8/31) and must be renewed yearly. Background checks must be renewed every two years.

Also, if you are wanting to coach at the WWF Youth State Tournament in March, you will also need to be at least “copper” certified.
This is an additional coaching course, required by the WWF, that will allow you mat-side access at the youth state tournament. Completion of this course can also be done through https://www.usawmembership.com/login. You only need to complete this course if you plan on coaching at the youth state tournament, it is not required to coach at our K-8 program.
**Note - You do not need this certification or a coaches card to be able to coach at youth regionals.**

All fees associated with your USA Membership and/or Copper Certification are not reimbursable by the club.

How to Certify for Coaching Through USA Wrestling

You must first get a background check and then apply for your wrestling leadership endorsement.  You will also need to do your Safe Sport Training through USA Wrestling in order to accomplish this.  You will also want to be sure to claim us (Wolves Wrestling Club) as your club as well.  Once you receive your Wrestling Leader Endorsement you need to get your Copper or Bronze Certification.

In order to coach at tournaments, you will need to have your Copper or Bronze NCEP Certification.  The Copper Certification will allow you to coach at any of the tournaments we do during the regular season, however, if you want to be able to coach at the IKWF tournament at the end of the year you will need to have your Bronze Certification.  We ask that you have at least your Copper Certification to coach at practice and at tournaments.  The nice thing is that these certifications are good for life after you receive them!

Below is a link to a video that explains how to get all of the certifications listed above.
